The Girl behind BookMark

I began this blog about a decade ago when I was living in Delhi, India. I have been an avid reader since childhood. Over the past 20 years (that’s how long ago I started listing the books I read), I’ve steadily managed to read a book every ten days. That’s 36 books a year, about 720 books till date. Most of the time, I missed reading about how books made you feel. The review websites I followed were very structured and technical.

However, in the last 5 years, the world of book blogs has become more inclusive, more creative and more approachable. And so, I add my voice to the mix. I also ended up making my home in Scotland, and so, readers will generally find a wide variety of books and authors related to Scotland amongst my titles.

I also review books (and theatre) for The Wee Review, which is an independent publication based in Scotland. Those reviews are sometimes referenced on this site. I receive no pay/commission from any of my authors. I do this because reading is my passion.

Finally, a note on procurement. I read most books by borrowing them from the local library, or free book swaps in the area. I frequent second-hand bookshops and buy from independent bookstores too. Browing and being amongst books is one of my favourite pastimes. I try to avoid Amazon (and do not own an e-reader).

My portfolio of published work and my professional bio is here.

This here is my other blog!
